OF THE 32 SENIOR ATHLETES who represented St Michael’s at the Southern Free State Athletics meeting, eleven athletes qualified for the Free State Championships. Nobiel Kifuabala walked away with a bronze medal for U 17 high jump and Gabriella Marais obtained a fourth position in the U16 100m.

Eleven junior athletes qualified for the Southern Free State athletics meeting. Reikanya Saila and Itumeleng Semoli qualified for the Free State Championships in the U12 high jump and the u13 100 m respectively.

The St Michael’s annual Athletics Day kickstarted the season with learners flocking to the Free State Stadium in their house colours to participate or to support. This year, the athletes impressed – a total of 52 high-school athletes qualified to represent the school at the Motheo District Zonal Meeting.

The champions of the class relay were the Grade 10s and Clarendon was the winning house.
