SAASTA team considers climate change

THE SOUTH AFRICA AGENCY FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENT (SAASTA), in collaboration with the Harmony Mine Group, honoured top science learners from across the country during the September holidays. The SAASTA debaters, along with Astroquiz and Olympiad achievers in Life Science, Physical Science and Natural Science from all over South Africa, attended the event that took place at the CSIR’s International Convention Centre in Pretoria.

THE SOUTH AFRICAN INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS COMPETITION (SAIMC) held in Durban in August was attended by Yi-Xuan Wu, Tinya Chuang and Fiona Lee. Earlier in the year they competed in three elimination rounds against other young mathematicians from all over the Free State and Northern Cape to be selected for the team to participate in the SAIMC competition.

Basher ceremony encourages Gr 8s to serve

THE GRADE 8 Basher Ceremony held at the beginning of each year signifies the Grade 8s’ incorporation into the high school. The basher is the single item that distinguishes St Michael’s School for Girls from other girls’ schools, which makes this ceremony so significant.
