Check mate! Lintle Phomane
(Grade 9) took part in the Balans Market Chess Blitz Tournament on Saturday, 24 September. She came first in the B Section of the Blitz. She won all five rounds that she played and was awarded red and gold medals for her excellent performance.
‘I feel proud of myself and motivated to win more tournaments so that I can motivate my chess team to do the same,’ says Lintle. Her goal for the future is to play in a provincial tournament and to represent the Free State.
The Balans Market Chess Blitz Tournament that took place at Mimosa Mall was an inspiration for Lintle Phomane and all SMS chess players.
