Sale of Work… these words spark many emotions in the hearts of members of the St Michael’s family. This traditional event was founded by the sisters of St Michael’s who used to create hand-made products that they sold to the community to raise funds for the school.
This year the Sale of Work raised a whopping amount of R103 000 that will be used, amongst others, for grass for the astro and also to renovate the school bathrooms and the squash courts.
The selling of raffle tickets, the well-supported Colour Run and beautifully decorated stalls such as the Tea Garden, the Confectionary, Sweets and Vegetable tables, the Tombola and the infamous House of Horrors, amongst others, all contributed to this marvellous income that will make life more comfortable and enjoyable for everyone at St Michael’s.
The buzz of excitement at the 2019 Sale of Work felt familiar and welcoming. Both the staff and students of SMS had shed blood, sweat and tears in preparation for this day.
The marketing team spent many hours planning and many a cold morning advertising the Colour Run. This year was the second time the5-km Colour Run was held on the SMS premises. With the help of UFS the colour-run brought a splash of colour to the pathways of SMS. People of all ages were dressed to get coloured like the true Rainbow nation.
