BOOK REVIEW : Blade of secrets

ZOE COETZEE

Blade of Secrets, written by Trica Levenseller, follows the journey of eighteen-year-old Ziva, a magically gifted bladesmith.  She is commissioned to make a one-of-a-kind war sword for a powerful warlord – one that does not only cut deeply but also steals the secrets of the person it cuts. When the secrets revealed lead her to understand that if her sword if given to the warlord, the whole world as they know it will be threatened, she takes the sword, her sister Temra, and flees.

Joined by an extremely handsome mercenary and a young scholar with extensive knowledge of the magic known by the world – the group sets out to find a worthy wielder for the sword, or better yet: a way to destroy the blade.

Ziva –  even though her social-anxiety floods her with the overwhelming urge to flee –  finds herself longing for the company of the stony-faced but light-humoured mercenary.

Follow the journey of the group as they navigate the rough roads of friendships and love. Will they destroy the blade, or will it be used to enslave the whole world as they know it? Read the story to find out!

Definitely a must-read for fantasy readers and a five-star review from me! I can’t wait to read the sequel to this book: ‘Master of Iron’.
