AMIDST THE UNCERTAINTY about the Corona Virus, the Community Services Committee hosted a movie night at the end of May. Kgosatsana Mabalane, a member of the committee, said that she had been inspired by the BLM movement during lockdown last year to end Period Poverty. The pad drive was connected to the movie night to encourage people to donate to a cause that really matters. Quite a few learners pitched in and supported this initiative.

The atmosphere was filled with laughter and chatter as everyone was excited about what was to come. The Jubilee Hall and the Harcourt Vernon Hall were used as venues to show the movie. The quad was illuminated with fairy lights and small bonfires, creating the perfect atmosphere for socialising.

Bob’s Peanut Butter Shack and Chip ‘n Dip were also on-site for anyone who needed refreshments.

The event was a success and the movie, Godzilla versus Kong, was enjoyed with the only interruption being a short break halfway through. Learners are looking forward to many more social events in the future.
