Mrs Slabbert greets SMS

QUESTYNN VELDSCHOEN

Mrs Natasha Slabbert’s appointment in an HOD post at Martie du Plessis High School was a great loss to St Michael’s. This multi-talented teacher joined the SMS staff in January 2016. She came to St Michael’s in January 2016.

She loves being able to make a difference in young people’s lives. As a Mathematics teacher she finds it very rewarding if a learner has a ‘lightbulb moment’ when she explains a concept.

Mrs Slabbert misses going to Chapel in the morning; the quiet time, the organ music and the sweet singing of the girls create such a positive start to every new day. Her former colleagues at St Micael’s are also very dear to her heart and she misses the polite behaviour of the SMS girls.

According to Mrs Slabbert a good teacher has to be consistent and patient with passion for and knowledge of the subject.

Mrs Slabbert’s message to the SMS girls is that they must lay a solid foundation for their future by working hard at school. If they do that, and appreciate and support their teachers, many doors will open to them.
