Although depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders have been around since the beginning of humanity itself, they have only recently been recognised by health professionals and people around the world as clinical issues. This created a generational gap in both understanding and compassion towards those affected.
Camp at Moolmanshoek forced the Grade 7 girls to see life a little differently; to have fun while thinking out of the box….or to have fun because of thinking out of the box.

After the symbolic Basher Ceremony where the new high-school learners were welcomed into the hierarchy, the matric baton of the past hundred and forty-five years was passed on to the next generation. The matric badges were received with trepidation at the responsibility.
Five years ago, when a Grade Eight learner walked into Mrs Basson’s classroom to start participating in debating, nobody could have guessed where her talent would take her. Jessica Chuang, a matric learner and star debater at St Michael’s, will even feature on national television soon.
