ESTABLISHED AND CELEBRATED choirs added special lustre to this year’s Songs of Celebration that commemorated the 145th birthday of St Michael’s – the oldest Girls’ School south of the Orange River.
The Choir of the University of the Free State and its Alumni Voices, as well as the Eunice High School Choir sang what the program called called ‘the art of the prophets’ in Martin Luther’s words. The Chapel Choir of St Michael’s, as well as the Senior and Junior Primary Choirs, also presented the audience with, what Luther had called, ‘magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.’ To hear the mass choir sing, gave everyone goose bumps.
On the weekend after their election the 2020 proctor body, accompanied by Mrs Melanie Schoeman and Mrs Liz Venter, journeyed to Moolmanshoek to absorb much more than just the breathtaking scenery.

2019 HEAD GIRL, Emily Chikobvu, is the vision and mission of St Michael’s personified. Emily was one of fourteen finalists in the Matriculant of the Year competition held by the University of the Free State and Volksblad.
WHAT AN ASTROTASTIC NIGHT the Grade 10 Social was! The Grade 10 classes had come together to organise their first major event – the 2019 Astro World social. With the assistance of Mrs Seugnet Pieterson, Mr Eric and Mr Braam van Wyk, the event allowed all who attended a taste of what was meant by Travis Scott when he said, ‘It’s lit’.
The chapel choir has grown tremendously in 2019 – from 21 choristers in March to 72 at present. It owes its success story partly to the appointment of Ms Joanie Prinsloo during the first term.
