Who are you?

The question about their identity presented itself in many of the activities that the Grade 9 ladies took part in. These adventurous activities included hiking, completing an obstacle course and Bible study sessions. The fundamental question for them centred around the point that the young ladies are now at a stage in their lives where they need to start making their own life choices.

Why would a war so far away matter?

On 24 February 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine. For many years tension between the two countries has existed as a result of the disintegration of the Soviet Union. In 1991 both countries declared independence and a treaty was signed. Since then, Russia has tried to take full control of Ukraine as a means of economic benefit and to unify the countries in that area for unilateral power.

It’s brand spanking new

ollowing many years of hosting practices, tennis matches and spontaneous tennis-themed games, the St Michael’s tennis courts were in need of a complete facelif. During the process of renovation, the courts were of course closed to all tennis-related activities. However, as soon as it was announced that they would be reopened, the eagerness to play on the courts could be seen in the attitude and stride of the tennis players who were eager to get back onto the revamped courts.

From forensics analyst to star teacher

Mr Jaco Cilliers was born in Bloemfontein and attended school at Jim Fouché. He studied Forensics but decided that teaching was more challenging and interesting. He joined St Michael’s in Term 3 to replace Mrs Natasha Slabbert.
